Description

Radiation Detector for First Responders
RESPONDER® Radiation Survey/Contamination Meter

Medcom’s founders  have deep roots in emergency response and a longtime passion and commitment to serving first responders.   The Responder has been optimized to perform in the challenging environments faced by first responders, without compromising sensitivity.   The instrument  detects alpha, beta, gamma and x radiation.     It combines durability, shock and weather resistance with high sensitivity in an instrument with extremely long battery life that is easy to use and relate to.   With a Responder you can protect your own health while protecting the health of the environment and the community that you serve.

Responder Radiation Detector

Each Responder comes in an IP67 rated waterproof enclosure, with an operation manual and a Certificate of Conformance.  A Quickstart Manual on basic radiation safety for first responders is also included with each instrument.  A NIST Calibration Certificate can be supplied on request.  We can also provide your department logo on your Responder instruments.  Please Contact Us for details.

Specifications

Display: 4-digit liquid crystal display with mode indicators

Accuracy: ± 10% typical; ±15% maximum

Alert: µSv/hr: 0 to 500; mR/hr: 0 to 50; CPM: 0 to 160,000; Beeper sounds the alert

Anti-Saturation: Readout holds at full scale in fields up to 100 times the maximum reading

Audio: Beeper chirps with each radiation event (can be muted)

Averaging Periods: Display updates every 3 seconds, showing the average for the past 30-second time period at normal levels. The averaging period decreases as the radiation level increases.
